@moh_kohn I want to add that I embrace it now. I am proudly disabled. I am grateful for the community who understands my struggles and who helped me unpack my own internalized ableism. It's been amazing to have mentors to teach me how to get accommodations, how to self-accommodate, and more.
@Irisfreundin Oh very disappointed that isn’t showing - I have hearing loss and #ADHD and rarely forget my alt text, #DisabledAndProud it also does not show in my Metatext app. Grr. But here it is again, can you see it this time?
@simon_brooke perfectly happy to accept that and as I have said, your self-identity is your own to choose. Autism can also be protective, balancing ADHD for example. My point is the word ‘disability’ and the word ‘disorder’ ought to carry no stigma and for me personally, they don’t need avoided on those grounds. I think if I wasn’t deaf (hearing impaired) I might be less happy saying I am #DisabledAndProud … but maybe not, who knows?
My review of “I Used to Be Famous” (2022), Netflix, starring #DisabledActor Leo J. Long (my previous post) is now up on my YouTube channel!
