Some #synthesizer #music on my #modularsynth. And I can't stop thinking about how sweet it is to reverse PPC binaries because unlike Intel instructions, All their op codes are four bytes. If the memory address ends in a zero, four, eight, or C, That's the start of the instruction. So I guess this is my love letter to the power architecture. I wish those Italian guys working on the power PC notebook had more funding so they could make quicker progress :)

I considered disassembling binaries using gdb/radare2 pretty hard task. This weekend I figured out it's nothing compared to disassembling and cleaning out S-shape hose under the kitchen sink. Now my hands are exhausted :flan_tired:

this plugin also sets a line prefix hook, which lets to render arbitrary text before each mnemonic. obvious use is to plot instruction prevalence or similar. yet i can’t find anyone doing this publicly so it makes a good starting point. #idapro #disassembly

When I first started #reversing #powerpc binaries, It was overwhelming and confusing. Obviously #disassembly was easy, but there were like 32 general purpose #registers and the whole thing was overwhelming and confusing. #reverseengineering is already hard enough. But I reached out and got help from friends, and everybody got better.
So being an outstanding individual contributor is good,
But being a good teammate is better!

I wrote a simple C program and ran it through a disassembler.

Then pasted the resulting assembly for OpenAI, asking it to decompile it into a human-readable C code, this was the result.
