And yet, the readings and the cards continue to flummox me on a regular basis. Compared to other forms of #cartomancy, I continue to find this deck opaque. I struggle to find any meaning at all. And I think this is the message to take from the deck.

There is in fact no meaning to be found within perfect Chaos. There is no occult secret matrix underlying anything.

I got into libertarianism and the #occult at around the same time when I was twelve, probably through #Discordianism and weird online news groups about anarchism and the Golden Dawn (either one).

Like. Steve Jackson Games helped bring me and untold numbers of my fellow Gen-X seekers into the fold with a beautiful new paperback edition of the (squarely Boomer-rooted) Principia Discordia in the late 1990s.

#discordianism religion and spirituality are inherently performative. Perhaps the only difference between the two is the degree to which the performance is directed at other people other than the self (and arguably the spirit). By that definition, this post is a mostly religious post. Praise Eris.

I'm thinking about why I like the movie #EverythingEverwhereAllAtOnce and why I like #discordianism and I think the reasons are similar. In the movie, characters learn to perform bizarre and random-seeming gestures in order to untether themselves from their current reality. Discordian thought and literature tends to do something similar. Relentlessly subverting, sabotaging, or exploding patterned predictable behavior in favour of surprise and weirdness.
