The #LinkageProjects scheme has ~30% success rate, but #DiscoveryProjects has ~18%.

These are targets, not accidents, and heavily engineered ones at that.

ARC tries pretty hard to force number of DP applications *down*.

ARC has provided responses to ~390 requests for assessor scores for, mostly, #DiscoveryProjects #DP23 but also others, like this #DECRA👇

Very typical: Detailed assessors know topic but review few apps & provide higher scores than General assessors. Lesson: Must appeal to GAs!

As far as I know, people haven't yet received their #DiscoveryProjects #DP23 assessor scores which the ARC told #SenateEstimates was imminent ("about to press the button"). Perhaps the CEO just didn't speak clearly enough, & it's all 390 that'll come before end of Feb (tomorrow)?

"Hello, it's the ARC calling. We'd like some blood from a stone, please"

Many DMers now reporting phone calls from ARC as they try to find enough reviewers.

Maybe timing reviews of several programs with start of teaching & #DiscoveryProjects due date was a tad … ambitious?🤷

For researchers who asked ARC for reviewer scores of their #DiscoveryProjects #DP23 applications:

Click on the red "Grant Opportunity Documents" button and log in (different log-in to RMS!).

Great to see no surprises here. All ARC grant recommendations for #LIEF & #DiscoveryProjects were approved by the Minister.

And quickly! Just 5–6 days between receiving ARC recs & Ministerial approval.

Then only 1–2 days for announcement.

It wasn't until mid May that #DiscoveryProjects closed. Normally it's early March.

Why? The #preprints saga of 2021, yes. The Grinch's vetoes, probably.
