Today with the help of my friend, I found out that my Synology NAS has a reverse proxy as well as automatic SSL certificate management.

Apparently, I don't need Nginx Proxy Manager anymore.

I love my NAS!

A quick summary of my first week with Synology NAS after several months with Nextcloud.

TLDR: I was riding a bicycle. It was fun. Now I'm driving a car.

This thing just works. And makes it so fast that I forgot it has an ARM CPU inside. And just 2GB of RAM. My Nextcloud was spinning on a NUC with a Core i7 CPU, 16GB of RAM, and an NVMe SSD. And I thought it was fast until I saw the performance of DS.

Synology Photos Android app is pure joy. Almost everything you had on Google Photos is here but with additional awesome features, like Shared space.

Synology Office is so much faster and stable compared to Colabora.

Synology Drive Android app is not crashing during every use...

I can go on, but my main point is you can tinker with anything you want in your #homelab, but for something importand for your whole family for years ehead you should choose something more stable and comfortable than Nextcloud.

Die Platten sind bei 35 und 38 Grad .

What should I do with my old #synology DS1812? I love it as just a dumb storage option, considering it’s age, but I wonder what the lifespan of the components are around the drives and what risk I’m running there.

I’m not currently using it for anything critical, and it is filled with just 3TB drives.. but I don’t want to try selling it either.

So, habe nun einen #ConBee II bestellt, dazu #Aqara Temperatursensoren (3 an der Zahl) und hoffe das alles mit meinem #HASS (Home Assistant) verbinden zu können, der auf einer #Synology #DiskStation läuft und mit #DSM 7 aber gar keine #USB Sticks mehr unterstützt (wo es aber Anleitungen gibt, das wieder zum Laufen zu bringen).

Also ein komplettes Setup, was an jeder Stelle manuelle Eingriffe benötigt.

Geil.

Updated some Docker images on my #DiskStation. Still amazed by the easiness to update images.

Currently running four containers, deluge, radarr, sabnzbd and sonarr. Just for testing of course 😉
