I get the blockchain backlash, but find user-controlled/owned #verifiedcredentials for personal ID compelling, be it proving (pseudonymously) I'm not an AI/sockpocket/content-farm, or saving time with online signups. SSI doesn't need a cryptocurrency but normally has some kind of #distributedledger.

They are the trusted intermediary, so why replace that with a technology that solves the problem of not needing to trust an intermediary? Less complex solutions exist for this if the ASX is content to be trusted.
