When I distrohop I'm often confused what should I do after the installation is complete and what order should I follow so I wrote a list of post installation steps. (I plan to distrohop to Debian so I'll need this list soon)

+1 to my #distrohop history and _yes_ I did say I would stay on #Fedora Kinoite for some time but my blood runs Debian :P

So, this is my distrohop chain

#MXLinux -> #Manjaro -> #GarudaLinux -> #EndeavourOS -> Fedora -> Fedora #Kinoite -> #Devuan (?)

I also just can't help wanting #KDE #Plasma6 because it has _so_ many things I want/need. I will probably distrohop again once Plasma 6 is released, but we'll see.

P.S: I'd stay with MX my whole life time if it had a proper updating solution.

Installing #GarudaLinux for its preconfigured #linux #kernel, chiefly to avoid the hassle of setting up #udevrules with #OpenRGB. A nice bonus is the #zenkernel for additional performance, and the easy GUIs for a straightforward OS. #snapper utilizing the powerful #btrfs is a nice feature too. Overall it's a great OS and will keep me around for a while, until I'm inflicted with the inevitable urge to #distrohop again.

I'm stuck deciding which distribution will be my next #distrohop. I'm kind of over keeping #Ubuntu happy and up to date every couple of years, so I'm going to mix it up with a rolling release.

Right now, it's down to Arch, OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, or NixOS (I know, not technically either a static or rolling, but thats besides the point).

So far this is what I've learned about each one...

Just installed #Fedora #Linux Kinoite 38!

To be honest, the experience is smoother than the #KDE Spin. I love the perfect intergration of Fedora with the desktop enviroment and #Discover in particular, the updates are super smooth!

9.5/10, I'd definitely recommend it!

I couldn't update Google #Chrome on #Fedora today. Again. On a new install. Yes, I also use Firefox. That's not the point. Sometimes, when something is not working and I don't know how to fix it, I would just #distrohop This afternoon, I went back to the dark side. :microsoft: Not sure how long will I stay. Could be days. Weeks? Will see. Sorry Linux folks. 😔

Mastodon Linux users, I need your help!!

I've been looking around for a new #Linux #distro to #distrohop (even though I swore to never distrohop again :P), but I can't find one that fits my needs:

- Built on #Debian Linux latest
- Supports more #apt providers
- Does not use #systemd, #pulseaudio & #x11
- Does use #PipeWire and #Wayland
- Has a big userbase and is maintained by a group of people, not an individual

I'd go for MX, but it breaks #3

I'm ok with X11 but I'd like it toggleable

Further notes: I am incredibly used to the way Arch-descendant distros do things after YEARS of daily-driving Manjaro and later EOS and also playing around with Arch proper.

But the unstableness of EOS has been getting me down. Want something less rolling-relase-y

I play a lot of Steam Games, so playing nice with Wine/Proton is a priority. Other stuff I can give or take.

@asahi95 True, especially in the first few years/months of our #linux experience. We have a compulsive need to #distrohop

I spent a whole week trying to install Arco Linux on a laptop using Ventoy, but it was impossible due to a problem in the grub-installer.

If you are facing this problem and the solutions commented in forums and blogs don't work, try burning the iso to a pendrive without using Ventoy. There will be no problems installing the iso later on your computer.
