It's been a while since I last used it, I've been binging too much on Debian Sid these past few months, I guess. Feels nice to pop back that HDD in and update it to 13.2, all pkgs and stuff too. Unix mode, baby!

I guess this is my own way to do #distrohopping :D

I've settled down a bit after an initial #distrohopping adventure ever since #ubuntu starting worrying me. Here's what I've settled down on now, after experimenting with different setups:

1. #opensuse #tumbleweed and #nixos on my primary and experimental laptops
2. #chezmoi to synchronize dotfiles
3. #nix #packagemanager to manage command line utilities across distros with #homemanager
4.i. #kdeplasma + #lattedock + #touchegg preferred on #opensuse
4.ii. #i3wm on #nixos

#i3 is very cool....

#distrohopping update. Void was interesting, but a bit too esoteric for me right now. I'll keep my eye on it to see where it goes.

Arch is similar, kinda feels like a hassle and I still have bad memories from the time I ran Manjaro.

OpenSUSE Tumbleweed is feature packed and very well supported but kinda uninteresting. I'll use it if everything else is a mess.

NixOS has impressed me the most so far and has just low enough of a learning curve that I think I could get it set up pretty quickly.

Considering replacing from Nobara 37 KDE Plasma by Debian 12 after one and a half year of good services.

I need to do a reinstallation, but I want something more stable, and Debian 12 will definitely support my hardware.

#instancehopping can get annoying just like #distrohopping but it is helpful for people to find their home in the fediverse and linux (respectively).

It'll never be year of the #LinuxDesktop, but once in awhile I am reminded how amazing it is:

I hate #distrohopping, but I wanted to move from my current distro, because "reasons."

After the kids when to bed, I set out to try a few #linux distros that might fit me.

In about an hour, I installed #NixOS, #Debian 12, and #SilverBlue - each a clean install. I installed & tested my software of choice (password manger, THE game app, browsers, GIMP) all while preserving my /home.

My data visualisation nerd self keeping track of my #distrohopping journey since I switched to #Linux a little short of 3 years ago.

#Fedora is the one I feel most at home in and the Fedora Silverblue-based Universal Blue has been the most stable Linux-on-Nvidia experienve I've had.

OK looking for a decent #linux distro for gaming. Proposed hardware is an AMD ryzen 5 5600 and an Nvidia RTX 2060 Super.

Would want to try out #wayland and a reasonably modern desktop environment

Possible switch of GPU to a Radeon RX 6700.

J'ai ENCORE réinstallé mon PC, j'ai quitté le bateau Fedora, je captait rien à leur MaJ/dépôt chelous. J'ai remis #manjaro parceque j'adore #pamac.
#cinnamon est tellement plus efficace et beau que tout les autres DE.
Un jour, je le sais, je reviendrais à #debian avec LMDE. La boucle sera bouclée.

Moved back to #popos for like the 4th time. #distrohopping is a pain. I think this might hopefully be my final time, as I figured out solutions to my problems. Decided to go fully #flatpak for more up to date packages and figured out how to theme gtk4 apps using #gradience to be more like pop os's gtk3 theme. That paired with a gnome extension to add rounded corners to gtk3 apps has finally allowed me to have a cohesive desktop experience on pop os. Heres to hoping :popos: is my final home!

Has anyone recently switched from #popos to #fedora? Not looking to start any wars here, I've been a happy user of Pop for years... But I think I would benefit from switching to a more upstream #gnome experience. I'm already using #flapak extensively. I'm also on a common model of Thinkpad, so not worried about any hardware issues. Are there any challenges I should prepare for in the transition? Something I might have overlooked that could impact my productivity?

Right now, I am running #OpenSuse Tumbleweed on my laptop, and #OpenSuse Aeon on my desktop, both with #GNOME, although I probably would have installed 6 other distros by the time you read this.

You know man, I really didn't want to hop distros this soon after settling in with @opensuse. I like openSUSE! My system runs fine!
