Anybody know the proper way to test a high-voltage self-discharging capacitor?

(Don't say Mr. Carlson's, it's a fine device but it doesn't test caps like this. Will it show a leak? Yes. That's by design.)

With a regular meter it tests in range and it's correctly self-discharging but all that's at meter voltage which is not exactly this thing's operating range.

(It's from a cabinet-fit microwave. Everything works except the magnetron doesn't actually do anything. I hear the relay click but no zappy. So it's _probably_ that. But I'm not willing to replace that part because _that_ involves breaking radiation containment shields and _I_ don't have a microwave detector.)

It's incredible how much of *doing things* is about having the right tools/equipment/software.

I've had my dad's mitre saw for the last few weeks (I'm definitely getting one for myself).... and it's enabled such a jump in what I can build.

Sometimes imposter syndrome is fed by not having the right resources.

Built this rolling work table this afternoon including bisecting a spare 6x6" for the legs. Much easier with the right tools.

Kleiner Tipp, wenn ihr an eurem Fenster ein #Insektengitter anbringen wollt, das #Fenstergitter dafür passend zuschneiden müsst und dafür das Fenster (Breite/Höhe) ausmessen müsst:

1. Nehmt einen Faden
2. Klebt den Faden passend am Fenster fest mit Tesafilm, also horizontal oder vertikal
3. Markiert die 2 Stellen am Faden, wo die Kante vom Fenster ist
4. Nehmt den Faden wieder vom Fenster ab
5. Messt die Entfernung zwischen den Stellen am Faden, den ihr zB auf den Boden klebt

In renovating news, I hooked up the downstairs vanity just now. Yes, it had been there for months but I was waiting for exactly the right moment. (Right mood actually.) The best news is that my 50/50 rule didn't apply this time. Hot is on the left, cold on the right. No need to stand on your head while you're washing your hands. Cool huh?
