Fairly easy today. Left the needle in long enough & removed slowly to avoid any leakage.

Bit of a trickier injection today.

I first Injected 0.15 mL (6 mg) of estradiol enanthate into the vastus lateralis muscle in my left thigh, but some of the ester pushed itself out after I removed the needle.

To be safe, I did a further injection of 0.05 mL (2 mg) nearby.

Guess I can't always get a straight-forward injection, but it's still better for me than patches :TransFemHeart:

So, why am I ranting about all this?

Because I'm simply fed up of seeing misinformed posts by others in the community using the #DIYHRT flag.

Their posts will often framed as helping the community, but they're always spreading 2 myths that:

1. DIY HRT is inherently unsafe.
2. Prescribed HRT is inherently better.

These points are both objectively false.

& spreading these myths, even under the aim of "helping" folks, is harmful to the community.

In an ideal world, all trans folks wanting HRT would be prescribed the safest & most-suitable meds for their needs:

• within a reasonable timeframe
• via informed consent
• via a national healthcare system or otherwise at an affordable cost

... by a qualified professional who fully understands trans HRT.

However, for most folks, these factors will not all occur together, if at all 😞

I'm looking for advice I can pass on or point a young (16yo) #trans woman to on how she can access #diyhrt in the #uk, without letting her parents know, who I gather are not supportive. In particular, she's worried that she's unable to get the blood tests to do it safely without her parents finding out.

I'm getting increasingly better at injecting painlessly & avoiding bleeding 🩹

A key trick for me seems to using the 3-handed-method 3 times to mark out 3 possible injection sites, then using one that doesn't feel painful when the needle is pushed against the skin 😌

It's probably my RSD skewing my thoughts, but I want to apologise if this thread has made anyone feel like I'm criticising them for any of:

• Taking spironolactone.
• Being prescribed spironolactone.
• Getting the desired effects from spironolactone.

What I'm trying to convey (somewhat badly I think) is that there are always better alternatives to spironolactone that endocrinologists should be prescribing or that folks can purchase if doing #DIYHRT :PleadingFaceWithRedHearts:

If I ever seem particularly against the use of #spironolactone in #TransFem #HRT, it's because it's been shown not to be a reliable anti-androgen.

The fact that is it commonly prescribed by endocrinologists doesn't make it good: it just means there are a LOT of misinformed endos out there 😞

Today's injection was uneventful. Went in relatively easily & no blood at all today.

I'm looking forward to getting my blood test results back sometime next week, so I know whether I need to adjust my weekly dose.

Who wants to guess what my hormone levels will be when my test results come back next week?

My last results in October 2022 were:

• Estradiol - 3178 pmol/L
• Testosterone - 2.4 nmol/L

This was back when I was doing ~0.15 mL (6 mg) of estradiol enanthate weekly alongside a 12-weekly triptorelin injection.

I'm now doing 0.125 mL (5 mg) of estradiol enanthate weekly & boofing a 100 mg progesterone capsule daily.

What do you reckon?
