I want a 1st edition #ForgottenRealms community on Lemmy. But the #DIYRPG instance where I am admin really seems like the wrong place for that.

A week after setting up the DIYRPG instance on Lemmy, I am having a good feeling about it becoming a long term thing where people come to get feedback and share ideas on making custom #ttrpg games and homebrew material.
It's still a bit slow with how very new it is, but there's already considerably more posts and comments than most other RPG and settings communities that I subscribed to.
The best way to support it is to post and comment.

Interesting question on #DIYRPG
How do you set up a oneshot adventure to get the best introduction to RPGs for new players?
The posts announcing the opening of the DIYRPG Lemmy instance have gotten 37 boosts and even more favorites. Which makes me feel optimistic that it could become an established and active place for home made RPG material and idea exchange.
Now people just need to start participating. 😉
Activity is what makes people visit such places and what makes them come back again.

DIYRPG on Lemmy is now open for regular operation.
It's an instance for any and all DIY and homebrew RPG content for any games and genres. The goal is to create a space where everyone can show what they are working on and think is really cool, and others can share their ideas for how it could maybe be made even cooler.
Everyone is welcome, but not every behavior will be tolerated.
Creativity is the name of this game!

DIY RPG on Lemmy is now a thing!
A Lemmy instance for hobbyist #ttrpg design, adventure writing, and whatever you have. People remember fondly the RPG space on Google Plus and recently mentioned wishing for something like that back. Maybe this could be a shot?
It's still completely bare bones and currently open for all to join. It's fully a work in progress and you can join in to contribute in shaping what it will become.

For now it's still entirely bare bones and completely open to join. It's still fully a work in progress and I don't have any specific plans on how to continue from here. So sign up to contribute to it!
Looking into available hosting options, there are some providers that let you use a set up #Lemmy server for 10$ or less, with the option to upgrade to more capacity if it becomes necessary.
Based on my experience with #diyrpg of the last 10 years, I think the potential active users are less than 100 per month. Without image hosting enabled, I don't think there's much of a risk of the whole thing blowing up big and drowning me in unexpected server fees.
Should I give it a go?
It is 9:06 Saturday morning, we've got a plan for a #diyrpg Lemmy server, available web space, a full fridge, all weekend, a library of synthwave, and we're all out of Adderall.
I think DIY Elfgames could really make great use of a forum.
Where people can posts their thoughts with unlimited characters, discussions can be discovered later through online searches, and you browse old conversations from days or weeks ago, and add to them after having thought about the subject for a while.
But I don't feel like setting one up myself. I think I don't have enough street cred.

Lessons learned from running a labyrinth according to Graphite Primes - Mazes: The Monotony or How to Run an Actual Maze - got eight sessions, over 24 hours of table time from multiple passes through it.
Attempting to map this old school would have required cartography practices currently beyond human technology so this was the next best thing - cutting out the slog and keeping the tension.
