What the...? Hab ne ext. HDD per USB an ne aktuelle #Fritzbox gehangen um via #upnp nen #DLNA Server (Fritz Mediaserver) zu haben der den Eltern den Zugriff auf ihre alten Fotos/Video am TV ermöglichen soll. Tja indizieren tut die Fritze die HDD, sqlite db wird drauf geschrieben. Aber VLC app aufm Chromecast zeigt nichts davon an. Internet weiß auch nichts. 🙁

@wa7iut @nixCraft OFC that may not be viable for everyone, but a @Raspberry_Pi - even Version 1.2 Model B or #Pi0W with a USB hub - work wenn enough as an #SMB & #DLNA - Fileshare on the LAN...

Personally, I think that the only method to enshure one's data isn't monetized is to pay for the service directly in lieu of data selling and ads.

Up intil 3 years ago I had an original Pi Model B version 1.2 running as #SMB & #DLNA [#minidlna] server and it did 1080p60 streaming quite well.

Now I have some an hp t520 #ThinClient as mini server doing #youtubedl in the background and @fuchsiii has one with a huge SSD inside to do pull-backups of her VPS with #Docker'd #Mastodon, #Nextcloud and #GitLab on...

Turns out that #Jellyfin is fine, but out guest network just blocks some ports "sometimes". And also that #DLNA support in #gnome #totem is broken :(

After a switch to the main network I can connect via VLC, smart TV and some other apps.

Was someone able to connect #kodi via #upnp / #dlna to a #jellyfin server?
I'm able to play media with vlc but Kodi is just unable to find anything.

@disquiet I have a networked disk at home that holds my music, and devices that can access it. #BubbleUpnP is a good remote for that on android. #dlna #rygel
