To date one of the funniest things that's ever happened in a #DnD game I've been #DMing is when a friend of mine came to the game with a egotistical Kobold sorcerer who rode around on a floating cushion carried by an unseen servant.
The short version of the story is they had the vengeful ghost of a guy's wife who he murdered for financial reasons and the lanterns around the house took on her face (because yokai) and started chasing the players. Based specifically on this Hokusai painting.
Very cool system for handling “random” encounters over on Goblin Punch.
I like that this creates player facing tension and doesn’t feel as random as the overloaded encounter die.

However it makes torches feel trivial and I’d have to see how a full heal worked with different systems. A solid first version for lots of people to hack though I’m sure!
I’m trying to watch more movies again, general fun and/or good, bonus points if they’re inspiring to a GM looking for ideas!
(Can’t improv if I don’t have a background)
What would you suggest?

Just struck an accord with the local library to be their Game Master for an adults and kids RPG night. Town apparently has lots of interest from people intimidated from being DMs.
Lets assume I start with F20 Fantasy. I have never clicked with 5E and won't run it. The library wants something where they can purchase copies of the rules for people to take out.
What would you recommend as a game system? I have my own ideas but I'm curious what people recommend
Prepping a major, possibly campaign-ending #DnD dungeon delve. Potent vampire inside; PCs' objective: extract one of his thralls (a PC's brother) and "cure" him--i.e., slay-and-resurrect.
Plz share ideas for curveballs! ...I never feel all that confident about #DMing the "Dungeons" part tbh. (3rd ed., 9th-lvl party; these players are quite genre-savvy, and one is quite system-savvy)
this is brilliant.

Gonna be a fun weekend. Having a #girlsnight this Saturday where we do our nails, drink wine, paint a canvas, and watch horror movies! Then, will be starting our new #dnd game where I will be #DMing for the first time with this group, then #DMing another game on Sunday! And finally a birthday brunch with one of my best friends. Cannot wait! #lgbt #dungeonsanddragons #horrormovie #horror.

Been futzing with the idea of running some old schoolish dungeon crawls, but then I stumbled upon #dungeon23 and I think I’ll do that to give my dungeon design explorations something to keep me working. #dnd #ttrpg #rpg #dungeons #gamededign #dming

Say what you want about AI art, but it's making my D&D campaigns, significantly more immersive and enjoyable for everyone. The ability to quickly generate a towns worth of NPC portraits and landscapes is amazing.

So where does everyone here look for players for online sessions?
Last time I was organising a campaign I used reddit - specifically the subreddits dedicated to this - r/lfg and r/LFG_Europe.
Where else do GMs go to when looking for players?

Might be time for an #introduction, since I've just built my own #mastodon #instance and #migrated over.
Very much into #DND, I run a #DND5E game a few times a month for some friends, just about to finish up #SunlessCitadel.
Of course #dming requires lots of #3dPrinting, so that's become another hobby on top of #modularSynths and the #music I try to write, when I can.

15 months ago, I began #DMing a game for my fellow editors at the Forgotten Realms Wiki, running the Legacy of the Green Regent modules and using #DnD 3.5 edition rules and a play-by-post format.
And today I finally got to write one of the scenes I had planned back then. With no notes, just keeping ideas in my head where they stay fresh. 🙂
