Threw 19 over, but ended up finding another disc, so I call that a win after not playing for 2-3 months.
Couldn't keep a connection to the downtown repeater though, and didn't have the foresight to program in a closer #DMR repeater that covered the #FediHams TG.
Now the question is do I wander around the nearby Ham Radio Outlet or go home and clean the garage? Lol.
@ftg I have heard that DMR can be complicated, but needing 4 decades to get DMR working sure seems like a long time!
I mean, first you have to wait for it to be invented...
...I am just being silly. Sorry.
Hey, good that you helped him get DMR working!
I got #DMR working, but only in software, using #DroidStar on Android. With an open-source codec.
Because I was also interested in the #M17 protocol.
Now that I got my #DMR hotspot working and my radio connecting to it, I added an entry for the Pride Radio Network on #FreeDMR 😃
https://prideradionetwork.weebly.com/network--repeater-info.html
Next step is to schedule some time when folks are on for their net.

I wrote up my adventures on my #DMR #hotspot on my #blog here,
https://k8vsy.radio/2023/09/recent-adventures-fixing-dmr-hotspot.html
I added some details and tried to cover as much as possible from the threads on here.
My goal is that it might help someone in the future with their own DMR hotspot.

@ingalls I'll bite!
Project recommendations for a freshly licensed (but a General class) ham looking to dip their toe into things on a budget? Don't have much soldering/electrical experience, but wanting to learn. At the moment, that seems to be the best way to get into the HF side (and other fun things).
Honestly, doesn't even have to be HF related, I'm happy to go down some rabbit holes. Have been messing with #DMR lately, for instance.
Received a letter today, allegedly from DMR-MARC, libeling some guy named Ken for "whoring" out Motorola radios.
According to the letter, Ken got in an argument with someone on Facebook, and evidently the DMR-MARC organization is now involved in a letter campaign to let the world know that Ken was a bad child, is a bad adult, and should be banned from ham radio.
It's like having Facebook delivered to my doorstep.
We're better than this, no?
If you use API keys from Brandmeister in your hotspots or other devices, you need to update them. See:

#hamradio Finally got #DMR working through the #MMDVM hotspot. Listening on #fediverse Talkgroup 2630002, but so far no QSO there. Plenty of traffic on Worldwide TG91 and USA TG3100.

I am awaiting my turn to check-in to the World Wide #DMR Check-in Net. It is facinating to listen to Net Control call for check-ins by country. TG91
Here's the worst thing about editing a #DMR codeplug: realizing about 80% of the way through of your original plan that there's a smarter way to organize it and realizing you're going to have to give into the whimsy of doing that at some point.
But for now, the temporary solution is just gonna be throwing in the #DMR repeaters and talkgroups and having some fun with it.
Editing a codeplug is maybe the most tedious thing about #DMR. I suppose the good news is I'll only have to build it out further, getting all the stuff in there in the first place is kinda the hard part.
On the bright side, I've got all the analog repeaters within 100 miles of home programmed, and since I rarely go further than that, I can just add them as needed.
And now, onto the DMR repeaters/channels.
Well. Walked outside while I was packing the kiddo up in the car, keyed the repeater and got a handshake. Brandmeister shows me hitting the repeater to access the #FediHams talkgroup.
Wonder if the repeater goes analog only at night or something? Very interesting.
#hamradio #dmr question from a total noob. OK, I got the Parrot working through my hotspot, but no #talkgroups work, even though configured the same. Do I have to enable each TG on the #pi-star or somewhere else?

On #DMR monitoring #Fedihams and the Michigan DMR TG 3126 on #brandmeister .
Fedihams info is here https://dk1mi.radio/fedihams/ thanks to @DK1MI

On the bright side, this repeater is line-of-sight and within about a half mile of one of my favorite #discgolf courses, so I'll be able to ragchew next time I go throw, so long as I'm still able to hop onto a given #Brandmeister TG.
Still...I'm pretty happy with where I've progressed along the #DMR learning curve thus far.

Repeater allows kerchunking on TS2 to access a given channel according to #DMRTexas, but TS2 is listed as a static local channel on #Brandmeister.
So I just programmed everything with both timeslots and figure I'll monkey around with it when I'm trying to broadcast and figure out which one is true, then submit a correction to DMRTexas if necessary.
