How Should Scientists Navigate the Ethics of Ancient Human DNA Research?
Two weeks ago, Dutch regional newspapers published a story about the #dna of Vincent van Gogh. Was he the father of a child, born in 1885? The answer was no: Y-DNA tests did not match.

But was this research done properly? I wrote a letter to the newspaper, which was published today! Will someone who was involved in the research reply? I will let you know.

This is such a cool piece of research on the genetic relationships of harakeke (NZ flax), including weaving cultivars. "Could this information be used for determining the provenance of taonga Māori made from harakeke?" https://blog.tepapa.govt.nz/2022/12/01/what-can-dna-reveal-about-harakeke-and-taonga-maori/ #DNAResearch #Weaving #Flax #TePapa
