#RPGaDay2023 Day 28: I would like a new edition of...
No need for a new edition.
With #ShadowdarkRPG I already got kind of the modern #dnd edition I was craving for: #dnd6e of the hearts ☺️ A modern take on the dragongame minus all the rules bloat which is compatible with my #osr stuff.
Okay … wait, maybe I would like a second edition of #TheBurningWheel (less complex and fiddly, so that I can actual grog and play it)

Is it just me or is anybody else greatly bothered by 6E's "every feature you have that does anything remotely magical is a spell" design trend?
Because I'm not feeling it.
No? Just me?

Remember the #GSL? I don’t, because the little I’ve read about #DnD4e is about as short as the edition lived. Why #WotC feels the need to try it again has me thinking about their #HASBRO overlords. Cancel OGL 1.1, stop this need for disputes to lead to the court room, and get back to work on #DnD6e/ “One D&D”. Maybe you’ll be able to recover the majority of your user base, but your fans are walking out the door.

See below, where WotC claims the #OGL leaks we've been reading are all drafts (Not) and they've just been trying to protect us from hate and discrimination (covered by OGL 1.0) , blockchain and NFTs (electronic Ponzi schemes) and evil mega corporations (Pot, have you met Kettle?)
Until they release the OGL and we see that the content developed belongs to content creators and cannot be revoked, nothing in this official statement is binding.

There's no need to quit the #DnD system over the #OGL
The fix is simple: don't buy any Brand NEW products from #WotC.
Boycott #OpenDnD and #DnDBeyond digital/subscription products.
Buy content from third party #DnD5e creators.
If you need a DnD Core Rulebook, buy it used, not new.
You can stick with 5e if 1) you like it, 2) you already own the books, and 3) you buy 3rd party content.
The message is delivered if we don't pay WotC another dime for #DnD6e or #DnDBeyond

WotC seems to think that #DnD is best played online, that's why they invested in #DnDBeyond. My bestie cancelled his dungeon master sub to send a message to the suits at WotC who are paying attention to our response.
Don't boycott #Dnd5e. Cancel your DnD Beyond subs, buy used books, play at home or on Zoom and discord, and when the time comes, don't support the trademarked #OpenDnD #DnD6e

@DuncanWatson Good on you! Last night, my bestie killed his master subscription to DnD Beyond as well.
With the pandemic, WoTC has seen the rise of online TTRPG play and figure that there's more money in getting us to play online rather than in person. I think they're wrong, but what do I know?
In my circles, I'm advocating that we don't have to move to #dnd6e at all. I hope that with people like you abandoning the online portals, WoTC will realize that they need us more than we need them.
@DuncanWatson Respectfully, #dnd5e still works, and we've already paid for it. My plan is to buy more third party 5e content and boycott #dnd6e
I’ve been collecting gaming systems lately due to all the hype over #OSR and #OSE, but it’s really such a rabbit hole.
However I sense a coming #WoTC backlash with the new #dnd6e content policies.
I guess world building means less to me than available adventure content. I just want to pick up and adventure and plug it into my VTT.
I have been looking at #MorkBorg, Beyond the Wall, Basic Fantasy RPG, and Old-School Essentials.
