WOTC just waved the white flag.
OGL 1.0a is staying and the SRD for 5e is now Creative Commons!
I never expected that result.
Still, I am very curious for what's next, and how they try to come for our cash.
I don't use the OGL for my system neutral PDFs on DriveThruRPG, so it didn't affect me.

There is no chance that Wizards will back away from destroying it in an attempt to turn it into a lifestyle brand. They've already gambled $300M, and nothing we can say will persuade the executives who made that decision to admit they made a mistake.
It's okay to be sad about this. Something precious is dying, and you *should* grieve the loss.
However, all that is affected is the official D&D brand. #TTRPG will live on. #DnDone #DndBegone

And as evolutions of PR smokescreens go, it's pretty good.
What it isn't is actual forward progress on the core issue. Making the new license irrevocable doesn't do shit if they continue to try to "deauthorize" the existing license. It's a red herring, thrown in to distract us from the fact that their objectives are unchanged.
They still want complete control of D&D-compatible content and they still can't have it. #DnDone #DndBegone #TTRPG

And as PR smokescreens go, it's not bad. Unfortunately, that's all it is. It goes to great and very specific lengths to obscure the main point, which is that they are still planning to try to deauthorize OGL 1.0a. So long as they keep that up, no other concession matters.
They're scared, but they're not scared enough. Don't let up.

There's lots of good people working there, but they are managed by the most vile and exploitative dipshits around. The attempt to steal D&D will not stand. You don't have to come to #Pathfinder2e, but find a different game to play. Don't reward this travesty with your dollars.
I love D&D. I own... a lot of D&D stuff. And I won't be buying any more, ever.
And for that, I will never forgive them.

I'm sure you've all heard the buzz about Hasbro and WOTC's OGL shenanigans. We're here to say we support open licensing and the community, and all our games will have that. What they're trying to do is bullying at BEST, and downright criminal at worst. It especially impacts indie 3PP who make their brands and livelihoods based on this most popular of games.
