In #Web1 you proved your #identity with #DNS.

In #Web2 you proved your identity with someone else's DNS (i.e. #Facebook, #Google, #Twitter) #OAuth

In the #Fediverse you prove your identity with OAuth on someone else's DNS, just like Web1 and Web2.

In #Web3 you prove your identity with #cryptography, and you don't need anyone's DNS.

Hinweis: Der FireTV hat als DNS-Fallback den Google-Server 8.8.8.8 hinterlegt. Dies kann man via ADB umstellen:

settings put global default_dns_server "$DNS_SERVER"

I'm fairly confused about a #dkim neutral issue I'm having. It's a record for a survey vendor we are using and they included:

h=SHA256 I tried it at first but got neutral results so I dug into #RFC 6376; and it seems to suggest that h= is only for defining headers that are included in the value. #DNS #infosec #vendorheadaches

if its not #DNS then its spanning tree.

No idea why our #DNS settings suddenly reset themselves, but I think our amazing #domain is working again.

For those who like to rely on recursive global #DNS such as 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1, I would recommend simply switching to 9.9.9.9, which is run by a #Swiss-based non-profit foundation and that also avoids malicious domains. The latency is practically the same. It is even better with #IPv6: 2620:fe::fe

It supports secure protocols DNS-over-HTTPS or TLS as well, very important to prevent the network from seeing everything you resolve, among other options.

Are there any #DNS #registrars out there that just let you manage your CNAME records, and will process a renewal every few years?

None of these sites seem to actually be about DNS anymore. I don't want hosting, I don't want web page templates, I don't want an email service, or web forwarding, I don't want "Buy it or we'll hold your domain name hostage" insurance.

I just want to manage 5 or 6 domain names. Does ANYONE still provide this basic service? TIA for any guidance!
