My magnifying illuminated headset arrived today, and I am really pleased with it. I was able to easily inspect last night's #DNS323 board #soldering and see how bad it was, and I was then able to find and fix the short too! Will take practice to use them naturally, but they are so helpful I do not think I will solder without them now. 🤓

The only downside is that my family all laughed at me and agreed that I looked like a complete plonker! 😁

And for my efforts, I have been rewards with the "dead" (?) #DLink #DNS323 board. It was confessed that it was fine up until the power was accidentally removed... So I am suspecting a corrupt OS image, as the board looks like it is in perfect shape. I think I have identified a serial port I can solder wires onto. Maybe I will catch something if there is any boot at all?

650GB of data successfully copied off this mirror #RAID volume from a failed #DLink #DNS323 #NAS enclosure.

I have no idea how long it took... I went to bed and left it working. It had completed next morning with no errors or complaints.

Recovered data passed a smell test when I looked at it on my Win10 PC.
