Dogitude, is the word that defines an expression of gratitude from a canine. If you have ever had a dogl, you know this is a thing.

Dogitude, the look on Findley's face as she looked up at me from the bed while chewing on her first raw-hide treat, formerly wrapped in irradiated chicken. I tell ya, life don't gets no better than this. She would express that more eloquently than me, but she has manners, and will not talk while her mouth is full.

Glenn Canyon Park is really very pleasant around 7-7:30am. Lightly populated with humans, birds chirping, breeze through the eucalyptus... I really enjoy morning walks there. But... The dog's appetite wasn't great for a while, but now is back. Breakfast is the highlight of his day. So, instead of enjoying a pleasant walk in the park, he poops, stops, and wants to turn around and go home for breakfast. "I will go no further."

Puppy Problems part II

It lasted a lot longer then I thought it would. Back and forth, different rooms, upstairs and back and many successive trials of running up to me with the toy in her mouth and me unable to give a Smacko to her!

She found this less than hilarious -- me not much, I was cracking-up (on the inside of course, no need to humiliate a learner).

And the time did come when the problem was solved with no help from me. We are both older now.

Puppy Problems I
I’ve always created little problems for the dogs to solve. I like to think it keeps my mind busy and I don’t die of boredom of existence as a hooman.
There are two things in the world Findley loves more than us, Smackos Dog Treats and her fav stuffed lamb toy (#Aotearoa, after all!)
This morning she is running around the house with the fav-toy showing it off and running away with it. “Perfect” I say adding moustache wax.

Baby's first Beauty Call!

"It makes a humming noise!!!!" We're all gonna DIE! Especially me!!!

It will sit still and lend me your ear. "It makes a humming noise!! Mortal DANGER I tells ya! Woof!"

Okay, done, next ear. "Oh, Okay!"

Back and sides quickly! "It hums, but this feels okay. Where's my Smackos credit card?" Maybe it's in your pocket?

Idunno, I tell ya.

It's fetch: I throw it -- you bring it back, I throw it again, -- rinse and repeat.

But the game doesn't work if you bring it back, give me a look and run away with it, jump on the footstool, then to the sofa/couch/Chesterfield, pick it up, drop it and run back to me. without the toy!

Also, sitting beside my crying and barking is not a recognised solution, unless your first name is Don.

Rain Day is not a 'concept' a young dog has lodged in its firmware. They don't say, oh, it's sodden out there, I'd have to swim just to get somewhere to pee.

My latest research seems to indicate that instead they say, "Okay, stay-in, displace all that energy into the local space time container. Prepare for a famine with extra treat demands and some how get a dog's-dinner outta dees mokes too! Then, love'em to bits - hooman's can be so insecure!

I'm not bragging when I say this is one smart doggo. Shows up, and within the 1st 48 hrs, disables her biggest competition to my attention -- gnaws on my S6 tablet, cracks the glass and 12 hours latter it is a dead still corpse.
(repair=$690, replace $450)

Usually, this would be an excuse for an upgrade, but we are practising-marital-tablet-equity - it all started with the first Airpad thing. Mo same Android

Having a puppy has interpreted my coffee habit. Okay, it's messed up all of my habits, some I didn't even know I had! I have some new ones though, all of them centred around, guess what!

"1100 - It's getting late Kenno," my caffeine monitoring Defcon 2 alarm tells me.

If only I could wake-up with my tail wagging, tear around the house at top speed for 10 minutes and fall back into a peaceful slumber (and smell so good).

Okay, we're back from the Doggo Park -- Seriously they're all over the city, fenced or open and called "WOOF WOOF RUFF" The best on is on the Bays, has two, two gate iso-entrances, a fresh dog water pipe & bowl, sticks & benches to sit on, and tennis balls.

So, I got to run around, check perimeters, meet other humans of other breeds, and get socialised with kids, oldies, newly marrieds, while the dogs watched us mingle and talk about their humans.

It was dog film night last night.

The World According to Garp. Bonkers, the dog bites TS Garp and blood is shed. Findley looked distressed. Later in the film, TS Garp bites Bonkers, who yelps and howls in pain. Justice was served cold.

Dances With Wolves, the canine is a wolf called 2sox. Findley is like this wolf, creating symbiotic relationships, from her point of view: affection and play for treats is a deal! Also, sleeping as a pack, and walks!

Finley's apre-trundle no. 1

Walked in the door, climbed onto my jacket and was not again seen for six hours! !Success!

Seriously, not a long or hard walk by any dog stretch. Okay, more than I've don in three years, and I was tired too, but I have 64 years and five months on her.

Okay, Finley's 1st walk on on a leash. A real mixed bag of emotions. Excitement, adventure of new smells, the joy of remembering you've seen this before, so you are not lost.

General trepidation of new things, and can I trust this guy with me in the woods? (My fault, too many Law & Order reruns.)

I used to do this walk many years ago, until Farley said, no more of that scat you human! But, I'll call it a success, despite crazy low barometrics...

@Swede1952 Ben will give you good instruction on this. Imagine how much a puppy must trust in itself, bounding into a future with oversized creatures surrounding it. Danger everywhere. "Turn around three times before you lay down." "Sniff your food before eating." "Pee freely!" "Take naps often." "Bark at strangers, first of all." "Love the one's you're with." :)

Woke-up, saw me, followed me downstairs. Gave me, not the hungry dying dog look, but the excited I know you've got some good stuff, man.

Every bit examined and eaten one piece at a time. The raw-stuff pup-food 10/10. the Canadian Chicken and Flounder (?), 18%. Leftover pasta 0%.

Next, tiny tennis ball in her mouth. 15 minutes of fetch in the lounge, 10 min sitting outside sniffing the air, 2 minutes more fetch. Runs upstairs to tell 'mommy' about her day!
