Wanted to fly the Nakajima Ki-84c Hayate ('Gale') again, as I had a really good experience with it last time.

I took it into a head-to-head dogfight against the Lockheed P-38L Lightning.

Given the American twin-engine fighter's performance and record in the Pacific, I didn't expect the Ki-84 to achieve such swift success!

Flying a Soviet Bell P-400 (Airacobra I - transferred from the UK to the USSR) against a German Messerschmitt Bf 109F ('Friedrich'). It was armed with a 20mm cannon and six machine guns (2 x .50 cal & 4 x .30 cal).

A challenging fight, but an enjoyable one which made a great video. This version of the Airacobra didn't have the killer 37mm cannon, but was still a tough bird and decent turn-fighter.

This was intended to be a follow-up to the I-16 vs C.200 dogfight to show how Soviet aircraft improved and turned the tide during WW2. What it turned into was one of the craziest, closest dogfights I've ever played!

The amount of drama and near misses... Yikes!

In the early stages of the war on the Eastern Front (1941), Fascist Italy's Macchi C.200 fighters clashed with the USSR's Polikarpov I-16s.

Here I fly an I-16 Type 29 against a C.200 over Bessarabia in 1941.

The result is not dissimilar to what actually happened... Things would change as the war progressed, however. I might make another video illustrating that.

I wanted to see who would come out on top between two Allied legends: the Supermarine Spitfire IXc and the North American P-51D Mustang.

Pretty savage dogfight - and very close! If there's a lesson here, it's definitely "lose sight, lose the fight!"

Flying the Republic P-47D Thunderbolt (AKA 'The Jug') against the Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8 over France in 1944.

Have never really considered the P-47 much of a dogfighter (it is more well known for its toughness and ground attack capability). It did a very decent job against the dangerous Fw 190, here, though.

This is also my first video to feature my channel intro and some new elements at the end.

I'll be honest, my opponent had the advantage in terms of energy and agility and I was very lucky to survive this encounter! The large calibre cannon on the MiG-9 were very useful...

In the Bell P-39Q Airacobra (the 21 variant fitted with 4-bladed propeller) dogfighting the Messerschmitt Me 262a jet fighter.

Ironically, the very last Luftwaffe victory of WW2 was a Soviet P-39 claimed by a Me 262. Consider this delayed payback!

The German jet is fast, but if caught at low altitude by the definitive variant of the P-39, it can be taken down by the 'Kobrushka' (Rus: 'little cobra').

Flying the North American P-51D Mustang against the Mitsubishi A6M5 'Zero' over Pacific Islands.

The Mustang wasn't really used in the Pacific until very late in the war. It did come up against the 'Zero', however, so this is an historically realistic encounter.

Two rounds in this video - pretty dramatic endings to both!
