Do you ever start a project, and when you run out of yarn and open your stash for a second skein, realize you have already started that very same project several months ago and just completely forgot about it? Turns out, I did that.

Project is a lace doily called Petra designed by Grace Fearon. I'm using some old retired thread with a 2 mm hook.

My first big doily #crochet #doily

I always like playing with yarn/thread weights to see how differently a pattern will come out just from that. I usually take a small doily pattern & see if I can make a dishcloth or hot pad by making them in worsted rather than thread... but this time I took a dishcloth pattern (and old favorite, in fact; I've done So Many of these over the years) and knit it up in thread!

It worked so well, that I made a second one for my mother's birthday in 2020 ^_^

I decided to crochet a bit. My first love was thread crochet. I made a 12 inch doily from the pattern Mavadene from Pineapple Pleasures (Patricia Kristoffersen) who is one of my favorite thread designers. It was a pleasure to make with all the texture that she puts in her patterns. #crochet #doily

Brain (and hands) were cooperating this evening so i got 2 "lace" rounds and 2 knit rounds completed! Now I just have 2 more "lace" rounds left! Full of ktog's & ssk's! Yay!

I have reached the point with the doily i'm knitting for my sister's birthday in June, where it's 12 repeats of mostly yo & ktog's and yo & ssk's.and each repeat is 23 stitches. 😣​

Thread decreases are one of my least favorite things in knitting even before my hands decided to be pains.

I'll get there, I just have to allow myself to only do one or two repeats at a sitting... and there *are* what i call "rest" rounds when it's knit all the way around!
