This Sunday falls on a long holiday weekend for most US citizens. We need to be very careful when mixing church and state. But this Sunday the best of the US (all people created equal, liberty and justice for all) intersects nicely with the goals of God (love your neighbor as yourself, do justice, love mercy).
We don’t always get it right, but it’s worth striving for.
