So... with the continuing sriracha shortage... I think I need to go back to making my fermented hot sauce from scratch.

After a few years of just barely surviving I'm feeling that pull into the kitchen again and it's so good.

I wish I had room to grow spaghetti squash, because my husband makes a fantastic dish with it, tuna and peas in a white sauce, and there's nothing I love more than a dish for which I grew everything in it.

Have I been batch cooking again? Yes, Yes I have.

Did I remember to remove the predominantly white jumper before cooking? Yes, Yes I did.

Do I now seem to 'own' a pair of beetroot gloves? Yes, Yes I do.

Things I have learnt whilst being a #domesticGoddess (not)

Part One:
If a recipe says to break up goats cheese and add before baking, don't take the cheese out of the fridge hours beforehand #gooeyMess

When you accidentally weld your red lentils to the bottom of the pan cause you were too busy dancing in the kitchen to 'do the stirring' the old trick of water, washing up liquid, back on the heat and rubbing with a spoon, actually works #burntBits

I got stuck in a food rut last year, so this year as part of renewed focus on my diet, I've been discovering new foods & recipes & have been making a lot more from scratch.

So far I've made:
Pistachio butter potato salad
Beetroot, butternut squash & goats cheese bake
Mozzarella and pesto potato cakes
Butternut squash curry
Broccolli, butternut, mushroom au gratin
Zingy mushroom soup

They've all been really nice & I'm surprised by how easy they are to make.

Have been domestic goddessing and made warm potato salad with pistachio butter dressing and then because I had boiled potatoes made pesto and mozzarella potato cakes.
Both new recipes to me. Both gert lush.

Sometimes I use the dishwasher, even if there isn’t a full load. Usually I hand wash dishes, but occasionally there are so many bits and pieces - saucepans and plastic containers and odd sizes of crockery and cutlery - that it all becomes too hard. #DomesticGoddess

I have achieved #domestic perfection & it must be shared. Today after 46 years of dedicated practice, I finished both a bottle of shampoo AND a bottle of conditioner at EXACTLY the same time 🤯 #mindblown #domesticgoddess

Domestic chore scorecard: (1) load of regular laundry done and hanging on rack; (2) load of woolens in the machine; (3) broken toilet seat removed from toilet. Next up: (4) hanging socks on their rackl (5) cleaning toilet and mounting new fan-cee toilet seat; (6) folding and putting away dry clothes removed from rack in order to achieve step 1. (7) bagging up broken toilet seat and putting it in the trash.

TWO crumbles in the oven. One is a standard apple crumble. The other was intended to be rhubarb one, but I didn't have enough fruit. So I used two jars of cherries in Kirsch instead. Hoping it works nicely. Then when they are out and cooling, I will blitz the kitchen and then make some cookies for tonight's games evening. If I have enough energy etc, I may even do a couple of banana bread loaves.
