The classic track 'Think Twice' (on Stepping Into Tomorrow) has been sampled repeatedly. Most notably by A Tribe Called Quest (Footprints, People's Instinctive Travels), #JDilla (Welcome 2 Detroit), & #ErykahBadu (Worldwide Underground). #DonaldByrd was a 70s visionary.

Donald Byrd was a great jazz trumpeter in the 60s before he moved in a new direction. With Larry & Fonce Mizell, he created a form of jazz-funk that (white) critics & jazz purists detested. But their first collaboration, 1972s Black Byrd, was a smash. Today, their 70s work is a massive source for samplers. Byrd is considered a godfather of #hiphop & a profoundly influential mentor & teacher, with a PhD from Columbia Teachers College.

This is a typically high quality issue - well presented, very well mastered, & impeccably pressed. The performance is really strong - you can really hear the room & the musicianship is top par.

This is just such a great recording &, while the Miles is evocative, this bops like an insane thing - particular on #BoogieWoogie - the highlight imo.
As far as I can see, this set is unique to the excellent #SamRecords based out of Paris. If you are into #jazz - definitely check Sam out. Their issues are generally #AAA, well mastered, meticulously pressed, & well presented.
