L'operazione militare in #Crimea è stata fulminea e imprevista: non c'è stato alcun bisogno di fomentare insurrezioni e costituire entità autonome come in #Donbass, e per un motivo molto semplice: mentre in Donbass i militari bisognava farli passare dal confine, in Crimea erano già stazionati a #Sebastopoli, base ucraina affittata ai russi (si dice base russa per convenzione, ma Sebastopoli non era territorio russo), che hanno avuto gioco facile a chiudere i confini con il resto dell'Ucraina a cui è collegata tramite uno stretto istmo.

L'#Ucraina non aveva in quel momento alcuna possibilità di reazione. Le attività partigiane locali vengono ancora oggi perseguite con operazioni "antiterrorismo" di cui ogni tanto gli stessi russi si fanno vanto,a testimoniare che questa voglia di ritorno alla #Russia non era poi così unanime...
