3/18/73 felt forum: haven’t listened to many NRPS [pronounced “nerps”] tapes since garcia’s ’71 departure & l’il surprised at their transformation into full-tilt boogie (made more interesting by buddy cage’s pedal steel) with so much sung by bassist dave torbert. keith godchaux joins for most of the show & fills out sound with instinctual boogie-oogie-oogie, starting with r.b. greaves’s TAKE A LETTER MARIA. sang on the original, but she doesn’t join until LONG BLACK VEIL.
