🎧 Late August, 1980. I interned at DNC that Summer and was just back from the Convention in NY. The Committee hired me for the campaign; not much changed, except I got a check. #JimmyCarter!
One morning after that, getting ready for work at my housesit in Georgetown, #DonnieSimpson @ 💋 KISS-FM played new #DianaRoss. I smiled and had a wee boogie around the room. I was coming out—as gay and from a shell where I'd hidden since I was a kid.
Times were good.
