I’m going to test using 3M Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film with a heart monitor at my own expense. I hope it works so I can gather the data needed without the adhesive creating an open wound on my skin. And I hope #UniversityOfWashington #UW will pay attention and consider incorporating this or a similar product into their general “Do No Harm” protocol for patients with sensitive skin if it does work. 2/2

It is not uncommon to have adverse reactions to adhesives. Recently my dentist used a crown adhesive that blistered my mouth. Now my cardiologist wants to attach a heart monitor to my skin for 2 weeks.

I asked if using a barrier film to protect my skin from adhesive trauma would interfere w/the test. Unbelievable to me they had never heard of a protective barrier film but to be fair neither have any of my medical team. 1/2

Always create a robust #PaperTrail, I guess. I assured them that I would be in contact again if I contract a communicable disease, and will be isolating at home in order to #ContactTrace as best as I can (to ascertain whether they got me sick, if it comes to that).

This was completely avoidable, and I hate to think how often it occurs across the #MedicalSystem on the daily here in the US, where apparently #COVID19 isn’t taken seriously by even those sworn to #DoNoHarm
