@libreoffice @avon_deer @aetus yeah, that"s because #Oracle basically gave the original devs the middle finger and they hard-forked #OpenOffice to #LibreOffice.

And then Oracle made it basically #Abandonware so it ended up at the Apache Foundation...

Similar to #Sibelius vs. #Dorico but both are #CCSS and don't share any codebase whatsoever!

Nice to see #dorico 5 includes a wider range of included SMuFL fonts, including Martin Keary's Leland font first included in #musescore which is based on the font used in Leland Smith's SCORE program (and very nice it is too)

It bugs me that #Dorico sees any notes surrounded by rest as a “phrase" for condensing purposes. _Lots_ of phrases have rest in them! Like, dude. I get it. It's both clarinets!

Well, #Dorico just did the thing that it does about one in every 30 launches where it runs as the free Dorico SE instead of Dorico Pro (presumably something is going wrong with the order of operations in checking with SAM?). Totally fine, but weird to see this pop up, encouraging me to buy a thing I already have from a sale that ended four months ago…

#dorico has an instrument called a piano and another one called a pianoforte. Given these days the two are generally accepted to be one and the same thing, I wonder if they really meant fortepiano (the one invented in 1698)?

I've just seen how big the #dorico manual is. Scary stuff. And that's before I've finished reading Breaking Bars by Elaine Gould... (very good book btw if you're interested in the practice of #music #engraving )
