It's the #triplej #hottest100 in #Australia this weekend which is an amazing celebration of music (the world's biggest musical democracy!) but in recent years I've personally been captivated by the retro 100 countdown, where they replay the list from 20 years ago on their sister radio station #DoubleJ the day after the main event.

I won't spoil the #2002 winners (you can easily look it up online) but it was definitely the year of Dave Grohl, getting 10 entries between #QueensOfTheStoneAge, #FooFighters and #Nirvana.

Aside from that, it was a fairly eclectic year of music. The top 10 was mostly rock but there was some hip-hop and rap in there, and a fair bit of #house, #dance and #techno further down the list.

A lot of people remember those landmark years where Powderfinger, Gotye or Kings of Leon won but this year looks like it's got a heap of underrated tracks instead. It all starts Sunday 10am local time (in Australia) on Double J and I can't wait!

Living on the other side if the world, I miss most of the main programs on Triple J and Double J. But, as long as I'm not doing anything too complicated, I get the chance to listen to the late night/early morning shows. These are usually pretty good (I mainly listen to Double J, the mix is mire to my taste).
Anyway, I just heard Pollyanna "Lemon Suck", which is one if my all time favourite songs on Double J, and I got all excited (even though I could, theoretically listen to it at anytime).
I sometimes listen to the local radio (Radioeins is good), but I would never hear anything by Pollyanna on it.
Anyway, like I said, just got a bit excited

After a few days it's time for an #introduction

Interests range from sport (cycling, Aussie Rules (Richmond), football), music (all over the shop but with a leaning towards 90s alternative and electronic dance music). #DoubleJ listener and frequent #desko requestor. Bad dancer.

Believer in science, educated and apparently intelligent but with a tendency to overthink. Have a healthy amount of cynicism - follow the money!

Not a huge TV or film person but more than a little in love with #tedlasso.
