#WIPWednesday

New project, not much to see yet.

I have to set aside my large project for a few days as I need this to be done ASAP. A very dear colleague of mine retires in a few days and I want to make a cowl for her to wear on dog walks in the future - so #doubleknitting with a few dog themed patterns - bones, paw prints ... On the picture is about 2 nights of knitting, this is maybe 1/3 of the planned project.

Colortheory in #Knitting

I want to do a #doubleknitting cowl. I have yarn in different shades of pink and grey and now I'm trying to figure out, which two colors I want to combine.

I used an old trick, to find out, whether two colors would be a good contrast to each other: take a picture and turn it to greyscale - if there is a good contrast in greyscale, it will work.

I'll go with the combo light pink / medium grey.

Last #Color day of #Fiberuary.

#StarWars alarm - the whole family are fans and I think this is the fourth iteration of that hat, that I made. The first three were smaller / shorter for toddler aged children, this one fits a large adult.

#Doubleknitting, but I didn't invert the writing on the inside (10 years ago I didn't know that was possible). It's really warm and keeps heads warm for 11 winters already.

#Fiberuary - #doubleknitting

My son is a huge #LOTR fan - and when I found a pattern for a scarf with the inscription of the ring, I just had to make it.

First we dyed the yarn together, as I couldn't find the right yarn: a very smooth wool-silk blend so it would not be itchy in the slightest bit, and the yellow should be a semi-solid so the writing would appear more dimensional than a solid color would deliver.

It’s not called #Extreme #DoubleKnitting for nothing. 52 Pickup is a 3 #color, #doubleknit #scarf. Plus, the #patterndesign on each side of the scarf is different—one side shows the front of a card and the other side shows the back of the scarf. I entered it in the 2019 #California #StateFair #competition where it took 4th place. The photo shows before and after I fixed the display to show off the genius of Alasdair Post-Quinn‘s #design. #knitting #knit
