I was amazed that thousands of students & parents voluntarily #downloaded this app which took over the #flashlight function of their phones. It was a great show, but at the price of surrendering control of your phone. Has anyone taken a look at this app from a #security aspect?

I drove to the #office this morning to start copying some files I #downloaded. Here we are some 13 hours later and it looks like the file copy might be done in an hour. I am tempted to go back to the office tonight to get my files an my drive.

Update on my *big project* #knit. I have bought and #downloaded the pattern on #Ravelry and am going to do a few of the tutorials with yarn I already own to see if I can master the technical stuff before spending all the moneys. 💴 I will keep you posted (oh and finish the #socks) #WIP #knitting #plans

Today, when I woke up, I thought "I'll have to use that #Microsoft #Windows laptop in 48 hours, I should get it down and start #updates". It's been off for two weeks after all .

I plugged it in and clicked "check for updates at 7.30am. (Downloads usually run at 15Mbps into the draughty shoebox I call home.)

Every now and then during the day, I noticed it asking if it was OK to #reboot, and I clicked "reboot now" to help it along. I certainly didnt use it to do any work.

It is 8.57pm, still updating, It seems to have #downloaded about 25GB so far and rebooted perhaps six times.

I'm off to bed, this is utterly insane.

Watched the Blues Clues movie with the kids this morning while recovering from the holiday and was thrilled to see this most excellent cameo from @alexwinter. Not only was it a nice surprise, but it earned me some cool points from the extended family when I told them I had a wonderful interview with him almost a decade ago about his Napster documentary, Downloaded. (Check it out if you haven't seen it.)
