Was a pleasure speaking with
Larry Greenblatt's CISSP class!
We covered blockchain DNS, and dived deep into #DPKI, #Namecoin, #ENS, and #HNS!
Part 1 goes over DPKI, #DNSSEC, etc.:

Part 2: covers specific blockchains: https://youtube.com/watch?v=c94gCECFIOs
Thank you to Matthew Zipkin, whose slides I used to talk about #Handshake.

@kidehen @aniltj @w3c an individual can generate and manage a self-sovereign identity, but without trust, how can it be used? That's not what zero trust is about.. π€£
I can create my own CA, but if there is no cross certification, no trust, what does it add? It can be an unattached identity at most. Useless to get access.
And in #DPKI... why should I trust a #blockchain? You got it, I don't buy that tech yet. Blockchain is garbage in - garbage forever.
Trust is not an award.
@bobwyman,
A #hyperlink can function as a powerful identifier for #identity and #authenticity.
Iβve used it for vendor independent self-sovereign identity for some time now.
For instance, just adding β#idβ to the end of the hyperlink that denotes your @Mastodon profile page does the trick π

The closest thing we have is @Brave resolution β via @Cloudflare. A swing, and an embarrassing miss.
#DPKI is one genuinely useful feature of blockchains that existing tech simply cannot do. Yet still "web3" focuses on cat / monkey pictures instead. Disappointing.
It's been 11 years since @Namecoin was released, and a few years since @ensdomains got off the ground, and to this day little progress has been done by way of using blockchains to secure the web via #DPKI.
It is quite disappointing that the one web browser to support @ensdomains resolution (@brave), by default sends your traffic through @Cloudflare MITM.
This defeats the entire purpose of #DPKI.
Today: will be presenting #DPKI: A Vision for a Decentralized Public-key Infrastructure
See schedule: https://sdns2021.dnscrypt.info
Helm is where things are going, but in order to secure email you still need #DPKI.
I've been predicting this for years.
TLDR: #CertificateTransparency will kill off CAs without making you much safer, eventually resulting in global Internet censorship. @letsencrypt will accelerate.
#DPKI only solution out of this.

DIDs In #DPKI (Decentralized Public-key Infrastructure)
#LetsEncrypt makes you renew every 60 days so that they can in the future shut down people's accounts without too much issue.
