@chaosfae I stopped dnd with 2e. Still into adjacent games though…I really like the #WithoutNumber system and am working on adaptations of both #DragonKingsProject and #B5 to it. I also like #TDE. I was really ready to jump into #FantasyAGE AND #Titansgrave until the setting got killed. Now I’m looking into #WorldofLazarus and #ModernAGE.

@ChaskaTheMagicDog I’m partial to the Krikis from the #DragonKingsProject. I’m not an entomologist but I have a thing for alien bugs…the Zerg, and the Xenomorphs, the Tyranids and the Thri-Kreen…and now the Krikis of Khitus. Khitus has a cool take on monkeyfolk and lizardfolk too but thankfully no Demi-humans or other common fantasy humanoids. Oh and don’t forget pachyaur; 2 races of elephantine centaur…

@Yora I believe that was by design. Not because there aren’t ruins and some of the modules deal with that sort of gaming style but the stories of the Dark Sun and the #DragonKingsProject are stories of survival, not conquest (aka dungeon crawling). Dark Sun is a post-apocalyptic world that is the result of bigotry and exploitation. Dragon Kings is a mid-apocalyptic world suffering from bigotry and exploitation. In both cases the PCs aren’t the conquers but the conquered.

@luigirenna @deinol I’m a 1-2e guy and certain settings go better with certain systems. IMO #Darksun and #DragonKingsProject are optimal in 2e even though I know groups who’ve used #3x #PF1, #SW, or #SotDL to their own enjoyment.

@Homebrewandhacking @ttrpg @ToweroftheArchmage I had an #OSR work for #DragonKingsProject ready for editing/layout. After several years of work we decided to abandon the project completely due to the #OGL debacle. The idea may one day be revisited depending on how the #ORC goes but will need a complete rewrite using next-gen OSR resources that don’t use the OGL. I really need Stewart Marshall and Matt Finch to do a non-OGL #OSRIC.

@HeyeBodo @greenspindle #TimBrown got to write #DragonKingsProject without corporate interference so he got to explore the themes he and #TroyDenning did in #DarkSun. I was working with him to publish my #OSR rules but with the #OGL debacle we decided to stop as we no longer want to be tied to the #OGL. I like DK better and w/o corp’ he got to eliminate traditional Demi-humans making it more alien and a throwback to Howard, Vance, Norman, ERB, MZB…

In the late 20teens I jumped back in with the #DragonKingsProject https://studio2publishing.com/products/dragon-kings-world-book and adapting it to the #OSR #OSRIC.

With Tim’s #DragonKingsProject he was solely responsible for the concept and he is still the authority over content, so no TSR/Hasbro/WotC execs saying you have to include elves, and dwarfs, and halflings oh my. He wants to narrow the rift splitting sci-fi and fantasy into separate genres. #Traveller2300, #Space1889 & #Space1889After, #DS, & #DK.

@Tim_Eagon @trollishdelver I think for me it is that I’m ready for some fantasy that deviates more from the Tolkienesque. I had hopes for WoT and while I think it is a good series, better than TOR, it’s even farther from the source material. It would be better to call WoT a re-imagining, like BSG. I want to see #DarkSun, or #DragonKingsProject, #StormlightArchive done justice.
