Hey there! I'm not well versed in social media but I saw that #introduction posts are a thing so I'm giving it a shot.
I go by Crub (or Papa Crub) online and I'm a hobbyist game developer in my free time. I've also co-hosted a few jams in the past with my good friend, @Akz .
I have been developing using the DragonRuby game engine since 2020 for my personal works. I'm not too great at this stuff just yet, but I hope to break off my training wheels and be able to develop alongside my fellow peers in the #DragonRuby community, which I am part of. Those people are very dear to me and I love being there.

Needed to make a quick mini-game the other day. Just some sprites and simple interactions.
Chose #dragonruby for the task since it is so increadibly easy to just start and then get a build that works anywhere.
Have to say I like working in that hotloading environment where the system kind of just does what you tell it to do. No bells and whistles. Just normal code.
The dragon turns its head as you approach. "Excellent. You have returned. After today's lesson, there is no turning back. You will know enough to write a game."

I've been continuing my #gamedev with #DragonRuby journey by following up my Pong clone with a klondike solitaire game. It's moving much slower than the Pong clone, as is expected due to its far more complicated nature, but so far, things are going well. I generate an array of playing cards in unshuffled order, shuffle the deck, then distribute cards out of the deck on to the play field. Here is what it looks like after spending a little bit today on getting the cards out of pure logic and actually drawing to screen.

Thanks to @brettmakesgames we now have a bi-annual zine! Along with Brett's book, it's the perfect place to jump in and learn DragonRuby and the basics of game dev as well! DragonRuby is a truly interesting and unique toolkit that I think is worth your time to look at, and so is this zine!
The zine is not-for-profit and made by the community, and there is also a free version available online, though I definitely recommend buying a copy so you can also receive a cool sticker. The physical copy is a limited run of 30 with 21 copies already spoken for. Waste no time if you want to buy. Otherwise, at least give it a read for free!

I've never published a game. I've never even gotten to a point where I would feel comfortable calling a game "ready to play". This changed when I found #DragonRuby. Writing in it feels so fast, and it is fast.
Today, I released the first feature update to my Pong clone that I quietly released Sunday night as part of a self-imposed deadline to "ship my first ever game this weekend". The initial version was fully playable, but had a couple issues, and didn't meet my entire vision for the game. That has changed today, when I came back to write the first update. 5 features, written in approximately 50 minutes. At no point did I feel like I was struggling to figure out how to accomplish my goal. DragonRuby has made this possible somehow.
