Faulty reasoning: #Drawdown efforts ease the pressure/motivation to reduce our use of #FossilFuels.

How has that been working out? This has been the position for decades and it's an utter failure. Wishful thinking isn't going to change that. The motivation to reduce fossil fuels isn't going to come until the impacts of #ClimateChange become unbearable, and by then it will be too late to do anything about it.

We need #drawdown from #RegenerativeAg and #biochar NOW.

There is a knee-jerk reaction out there to #CO2 #drawdown based on bad facts and faulty reasoning.

Bad facts: drawdown requires technology that doesn't exist and can't scale without massive resource consumption & CO2 emission. The error here is in assuming technology is needed. Nature has a very efficient means of drawdown. We just need to hack the #CarbonCycle so drawdown by photosynthesis doesn't all return to the atmosphere. #RegenerativeAg and #biochar can do that easily.

The cost of having your cake and eating it too: The problem is #pollution of #segregated communities by burning #fossilfuels. The solution should be #pricing fuels and #parking to send #marketsignals for other forms of #mobility, using the funds to transition communities away from imposed #DiseaseBurdens, and #shared transport. But for a number of #corrupt #BusinessAsUsual factors we end up subsidizing the rich, cementing in segregation, delaying transition past critical timelines like 1.5 by 2030, and never addressing #drawdown.

@AspenProposal China’s one child policy has been and will be demographically disastrous. I like the fact that educating girls is seen (by Aspen) as key; it is one of the top solution in #Drawdown Project and countries like Bangladesh are exemplars on this in stabilising populations. Reducing populations humanely and avoiding demographic timebombs is another matter and would surely be a very slow process, with tiny increments in average fertility rates, not engineered changes.
