My current #DresdenFilesRPG is a changeling of the "alien encounter" variety. He's a cult-busting freelance special agent. Lindbergh. His friends call him "Chuck"

My most recent #dnd5e character was a Lizardfolk Bard/Rogue, 20 CHA, Actor feat-- the CE "voice of reason" for the violent, impulsive, larcenous L(ish) G(ish) inferior mammal scum he adventures with. He's based on Villanelle from Killing Eve and Doctor Dinosaur from Atomic Robo.

Currently planning to run #TerminatorRPG game, "Scoundrels in Paradise". Human Resistance Fighters in the 90s doing "slice of life" survival. Game starts in early 1997.

I like a system that has both fixed spell effects, like D&D, but also a freeform magical effects system.

Like D&D with spells/rituals, only much more flexible rituals. Or like #DresdenFilesRPG with its evocation and rotes and its thaumaturgy system.

Oh, a lot of franchises that people like to "translate" to D&D already have their own official RPGs. They vary in quantity, but there's usually some effort to make the system fit the fiction, rather than trying to wrap the frayed hide of the fiction around the system.
