The first time a Spotted Pardalote caught my attention, I mistook it for a cicada!

Spending most of its time feeding in the eucalyptus canopy, it’s often referred to as the ‘Headache Bird’ due to its continuous “sleep-may-be” mating call.

Known as the Bilyabit or Widopwidop by the Noongar people, this bird is one of the few to nest in both tree hollows and earth tunnels.
