Drinks diary 3 May 2014: more casual racism overheard, this time at our favourite neighbourhood Iraqi restaurant where we were seated near a large party celebrating a birthday and some boorish dude asked are Iraqis even middle eastern and he pronounced it like "eye-rack". Also he said "these people". Ugh.

Drinks diary 2 May 2014: red wine with pizza at Terra Cotta Pizzeria, then bourbon at Phog Lounge. The good candies are the cello-wrapped caramels even though technically I'm allergic to them. The bad candies are hard and taste like fake fruit.

Drinks diary 20 April 2014, at Gramma's house playing Solo, the weird German card game my family always plays. When two players are "bucking", meaning they're the last two who haven't gone out and whoever doesn't go out next will lose ("get the buck") it's annoying to make trump anything but clubs because it drags out the last part of the game forever. It's basically a way more interesting version of euchre and we take it very seriously.

Oh, only 3 years? Because your English is really very good". Gross. Also the colleague was from India, where many people speak English.
