I bought a Hot Snakes album that I had missed (Automatic Midnight) the other week, and found out that Rick Froberg passed away last week. It’s really sad news, and I have always enjoyed his music.

I feel like Rick's legacy is already assured with #DriveLikeJehu and then #HotSnakes, but also more people will discover the short but sweet run he had with #Obits.

i wasn't even a fan of hardcore or posthardcore or math rock - but #DriveLikeJehu albums would be in rotation with the Beatles and Mazzy Star and Pink Floyd - somehow psychedelic and warm while rocking and screaming

#DriveLikeJehu is timeless - haven't stopped listening in 30 years - always introducing new people to them - so young - thank you for your brilliant music - it smelled like teen spirit and adult defiance

Rick’s voice, alongside those of Ian MacKaye, Guy Picciato & Justin Trosper defined that menacing and confusing “post hardcore” era of the 90s that truly sounded like outer space in a magnetic storm of anxiety.
