That comes from the audiobook, a -free, independent edition that I financed, produced and narrated myself. You can get the audiobook everywhere *except* , , and .com, all of which have mandatory DRM policies. You can also get it direct from me:

transactions.sendowl.com/produ

The DRM-free ebook is available everywhere ebooks are sold (Kobo, Kindle, Nook, etc), as well as in my own DRM-free ebook store:

the authors of banned books should allow them to be distributed in non-DRM formats so they are more accessible in places where they have been banned

Deals on Kindles may seem attractive, but don't forget Amazon is one of the most devoted peddlers of DRM. We prefer books we can loan to our friends, free of restriction and prying eyes. Read more about how to live DRM-free: u.fsf.org/1aj

DRM ruins efforts at historical preservation. If all of our media is locked up in digital streaming platforms -- which will go under eventually -- how will it be preserved for future generations? Live DRM-free instead: u.fsf.org/1aj

I had a good experience with finding and downloading DRM-free eBooks from eBooks.com . You just have to make sure the "DRM-free" box is checked while searching book categories. The eBooks come fingerprinted with your full name as registered by your credit card.

For those of you into , for some reason I only now discovered . It's a small selection of -free ebooks.

They take texts from and properly typeset them and correct OCR and editing errors. They look very nice on your favorite eReader.

If you're using an Apple device, select the "Advanced epub" file and open in the Books app.

If you're using a Kindle, choose "azw3", but don't use "Send to Kindle". (See their FAQ.)

Back when publishers were getting started with I warned them that the only way to combat was by selling their stuff without and thus be able to reach owners.

They decided to go with DRM which mostly served to confuse customers who came to the conclusion that buying Icelandic ebooks was just too complicated. A few years later the publishers gave up on DRM but the damage was done.

Saw a post that 1984 by is not available as an e-book on Kindle. No audiobook either. Someone must have thought thru the fact that it is best to own a copy of this book instead of having a copy that gives you only a licence to read it.
Imagine, with the current discussion of book banning, if they could institute a ban and dissolve your reading rights. Easier that coming to your house to burn it. Better for the environment.
I still wonder what is behind Amazon’s action here.

La cosa che mi fa innervosire del DRM è proprio quanto possa essere proprio spudorato in certi casi. La mia stampante HP mi richiede un abbonamento da 4€ al mese per stampare con le cartucce piene... Allucinante
