Gnomes are small, fey-like and bug-like people. They have big, colorful butterfly wings, small antennae, and multifaceted eyes.

Gnomes are semi-eusocial, coordinating telepathically to serve the needs of their hives, but spending most of their time pursuing their own interests.

Sex and caste are practically identical in gnomes; they're all born as common dromites, but any dromite can "promote" another dromite to Queen, and the Queen may promote Princes at will.
