I've finished my first ever 4oz batch of #DropSpindle singles and am very pleased with the results.

It's a 100% Romney fibre, hand-dyed by Abstract: https://abstractfiber.com

I plan to 2-ply it with this 4oz of lovely light tan Santa Cruz Island from Shaggy Bear Farms (https://shaggybearfarms.com), once I get it spun.

How it started, how it's going -- gift fiber from Estonia, and I finally started taking it everywhere again. Survey picture is from April 1, the brown blend was completed by May 20, the progress image of blue is from July 3, and the finished ball of blue is today, August 25. After spending most of my #TourDeFleece with my wheel, today I’m switching back to a poor neglected spindle project.

This is a merino-silk blend from Sweet Georgia, and I’m trying to spin a very fine lace yarn. I suspect I lost momentum because I’m in a dark grey part of the fiber braid instead of the turquoise I love

Any spinners have recommendations for which types of plant fibers are best for beginners? I just got a sample pack and will be trying them out myself as well, but I'd love input. I'll be doing a skill share for #spinning soon and want to give attendees who want wool alternatives an easy fiber to work with!

Learning to spin on a drop spindle (can spin on a wheel so this is something new). Much dropping and spinning, and not too different from a wheel beyond a bit less control over consistency.

ordered a box of mystery lap waste to get some practice fibers, and quite a lot of it is what i believe to be merino/silk blend. it's nice!! candy pink isn't really my colour but since they also included a bit of blue maybe it can end up as a trans pride knit of some sort? 🏳️‍⚧️

my first knitted object from my own handspun yarn!! 🧶🧶🧶

excited to get to this point, though knitting with it taught me a whole lot about the yarn ive made and its flaws. it's so dense! but at least the last colour i spun is markedly better than the first, and im hoping to get some advice from local spinners in a few weeks

onwards! to... probably a slightly neater hat, but let's see where this goes <3

Mornings where I have the time to do a bit of spinning and thread/wool management with my morning coffee are my favourites. I just love spinning so much, it is the strangest sudden hobby of my life. I really would like to be able to create sellable wool, i.e., wool that people would like to knit or whichever with; in time, in time.

I think I like the small #TurkishSpindle best for now. I manage to spin thinner #yarn with the same Coburger fuchs #fiber. The ball of single ply yarn was made yesterday evening with the larger #DropSpindle. #handspinning over #lunchbreak

New attempts to #handspinning with smooth and soft #fibre of #Coburger fuchs sheep using a #dropspindle. It will take lots of practice to get it nice and even. #AbsoluteBeginner #handspun
