Judge Thomas M. Rose of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio withdrew from a case that could block Medicare from negotiating over drug prices, just hours after the Revolving Door Project, a nonprofit, sent him a letter raising questions about his ownership of stock in Johnson & Johnson & AstraZeneca.

He was to be the presiding judge in a lawsuit brought by U.S. Chamber of Commerce asking Rose to block the drug negotiations before Oct. 1.

"We’ve got a major problem here with PBMs deciding rebates, deciding the price of drugs, probably being an instrument to drive up the price of drugs, and nobody knows what they’re doing, said Chuck Grassley

“We’ve got to pass legislation. We can’t put up anymore with … middle people, between the companies and the consumer, without knowing what they’re doing, particularly when they’re raking in a lot of taxpayer money.”

"Most adults between the ages of 18 and 64 took at least one prescription medication in 2021. But more than 8% of them – about 9.2 million people – said they tried to save money by skipping doses, taking less than prescribed or delaying a prescription fill, according to the CDC data...data from health analytics company IQVIA shows that total prescription drug costs rose nearly 5% from 2020 to 2021, to $63 billion."

"Starting this summer, the state’s Prescription Drug Affordability Board will choose up to 18 high-cost drugs for review over the next three years to determine if the medications are unaffordable and whether to cap what health plans and consumers pay for them.

But with hundreds of expensive drugs to choose from, the board members face tough decisions about who will get help now and who will have to wait."

This is why I love TYT and Cenk, Anna, John and the other hosts. They actually DISCOURSE about the issues. They don't all agree and parrot one another in an echo chamber. There are real and different perspectives and they are VOICED with passion.

I don't agree 100% of the time with any of the hosts. They have bad takes sometimes. Sometimes I get so worked up I literally argue with my computer screen. I just don't shut myself down from hearing another pov in a subject. That's what the Right does.

(For the record: I'm in John and Emma's camp for the video though I can't argue Cenk's point about the smokescreen being applied to insulin pricing)

Eli Lilly announced that it would lower and cap insulin at $35/vial two days before the nonprofit drug maker Civica (a consortium of U.S. health-care systems and philanthropies) announced it would manufacture and distribute insulin to Americans at $30/vial.

Eli Lilly said it would "cap out-of-pocket insulin costs at $35 for people who have private insurance and use participating pharmacies," and with its Value Program, it would "cap out-of-pocket costs at $35 or less per month for people who are uninsured."

In contrast, Civica plans to "sell its insulins at one low, transparent price for all, basing the price on the cost of development, production and distribution."
