Drumstodon news: our server just reached over 30 millions of finished tasks, which is ... nice to see, I guess...
The active users count went down from about ~500 back in February to the current number of 160. A lot of people signed up in January and February, but never really came back to use their accounts. Anyway, maybe someone will return.
Thanks to anyone who is still :lucias_drumsticks: sticking :drumsticks: around here! This instance is here to stay.

Zero downtime (hopefully) database server upgrade is currently underway... As our DB size grew to 75% of the available disk space we need to make a move to a machine with more resources... 💾
If you encounter any problems, please report.
I'm thinking about spinning up a "Welcome Bot" to greet new users here and try to engage them a bit. A lot of people create an account and do not start follow anyone, which means they are left with empty timeline forever and after checking in for a few days never log back again. Any ideas / proposals for what should the welcome text / toot for them be like?
I've spun up a quick website and future blog at https://info.drumstodon.net
The intention is to publish some information regarding the instance there and mainly as a backup space for you to check out in case of service outage here on drumstodon.net
You can also check out status.drumstodon.net to get the current status overview about the service.

Ooh, sorry Drumstodonians. Looks like I've just pushed our server a bit over the edge by running a simple maintenance task... 😬 If things were slow for you in the last minutes, well... It's me.
Instance stats incoming! Currently there are 170+ active user accounts calling Drumstodon their home.
164 GB of storage space are currently needed to store all the data this Mastodon server requires to be able to function...
The services are served from three separate machines. One running all web services and queues, second serving only the database and third providing the object storage for all data (media files etc.).
Invite your friends, the servers can cope. :)
Tomorrow will mark one month since I've embarked on the admin endeavour and started this space.
Sometimes I see admins on another instances sharing information and statistics from the background of running the instance.
Would there be interest in such info here or is it just timeline spamming?
