I have to admit that I'm not too familiar with the #DSL protocol, but I'm wondering why my internet doesn't crash every few days anymore. I have had this problem for more than two years.

The screenshot below shows my DSL CRC errors over time. Guess when I switched from #Vodafone to #telekom? 😁

Maybe there is no causal connection but I never had so few CRC errors with Vodafone. But because Vodafone uses Telekom's DSL line, I'm even more surprised 🤔

@jhx It seems there was a problem on the "last mile" that's operated by #Telekom 😠.

I was first told by #1und1 that they'll send a technician ... minutes later another message that their "partner" (could only be Telekom) was already active doing some work, so technician is cancelled. #DSL came back around 2.40pm, so ~9.5 hours outage.

@jhx Having kind of a "break" now ... this morning at 5.15, my #DSL (from #1und1) broke down 😠

It's still not back (#ppp trying every 30 seconds...), I now set up USB tethering with my phone on my desktop. Took me a while, although it's super simple, some "ue0" interface just pops up on #FreeBSD, BUT I had to fiddle with my routing table and accidentally killed the #route to my NFS server from where /home is mounted on first attempt 🙈

@freemo Yeah I started with Corellinux years back, went to #knoppix, then #dsl and then to #puppy, as a desktop builder the hdd partitioners that was on those distros was invaluable to me. I have a basic grasp of how everything works, and have for years, but I am only slightly more skilled than a newbie.
