A couple of words on migration from one #SynologyNAS to another.

I prepared a backup in two different places (just in case) and was ready to wait a whole day to restore it, but #Synology #DSM broke all my expectations. After I moved my drives from an old DS223 to a new DS423+ and started it, it said: "Hey, looks like you are migrating from another NAS. Do you want to restore your system on a new NAS with a single button click?".

So far, DS423+ performance is super satisfactory. Especially #Plex. Sure, after the RAM upgrade from 2 to 6 GB.

Synology NAS DSM (Disk Station Manager, the Synology’s OS) Task Scheduler feature is essentially a GUI’d Cron. It has the feature to send you an email on every run (or failed run). You can turn this off of course. BUT… if the scheduled task is skipped (because the previous job is still running), you get an email, regardless. Bloody annoying. #Synology #DSM #cron #admin #NAS
