I attribute the CMI for seeding my life-long fascination with #DSP.

Facet is a live coding environment for algorithmic composition and synthesis.
With a code editor in the browser and a pair of NodeJS servers, it can generate, transform, and sequence audio, MIDI, and OSC data.
There are over 150 methods which can be combined in numerous ways to create unique DSP algorithms. These methods create and modify arrays of floating-point numbers which become lossless audio files or MIDI/OSC patterns.
In order to play back synthesized audio patterns, Facet uses a Max abstraction as a "receiver" for up to 4 channels of audio, and from Max it can go anywhere. The Max abstraction also pipes OSC out of its fifth outlet, making it possible to "live code" a prepared Max patch.
Also included in the repo are two Max for Live devices (stereo and 4 channel version), allowing you to send audio directly into Ableton Live tracks. With this setup, you can also create MIDI CC mappings to control Live device parameters.
If working with MIDI or OSC only, Facet can run as a standalone system, making it possible to run on a Raspberry Pi or computers with less CPU resources.
Facet runs on MacOS, Windows, and Linux.

109 followers · 1166 posts · Server mathstodon.xyzI met #6502 as a pre-teen. I quickly became obsessed with this #CPU. I do believe it defined my subsequent #CS career, for good or ill. I, then, got into #ArtificialIntelligence and #ComputerGraphics, which I pursued in grad school, years later.
In due course, with a broader perspective, my taste has evolved to encompass computer architecture, algorithms, operating systems, compilers, formal languages, complexity theory, category theory, and everything else that is CS. I am often criticised by my peers for my "diffused focus". I beg to differ. I look upon our CS field as a lawyer looks at the law—one must possess the foundational knowledge in all areas, and pursue specialised skills in an area that beckons one's full attention. As an #EE, my attention today is focused on #DSP.
Take heed, youngsters studying CS.

Je continue sur PicoGen. J’ai maintenant les formes d’onde dent de sie et rectangle.
Sur les images, la fondamentale est à 104997 Hz. Les formes d’onde sont encore distinctes (rect. à 25 %). L’aliasing de la scie reste contenu à cette fréquence fondamentale élevée, merci au PolyBLEP. Eh oui, on recycle les vieilles recettes d’oscillateurs pour synthés numériques !
Reste à faire au moins le triangle (PolyBLAMP, plus dur !) et sûrement un lecteur de wavetables génériques en mip-map.
