Als kind kreeg Mick al van zijn kleutertijd muziekles van zijn ouders, en zo leerde hij piano, blokfluit, viool en pijp orgel spelen. Hij begint gitaar te spelen als hij de muziek van #DuaneEddy ontdekt.
In 1963 gaat hij bij zijn eerste band #TheMariners, terwijl speelt hij ook bij #TheCrestas, een lokale band in Hull.
In 1965 verhuist hij naar Londen, en speelt bij #Thevoice. Maar in1966 verhuist hij terug naar Hull, om bij
